Projects 1 - 12
Liverpool Hat - Tenant Spin
This is an internet TV channel for the High Rise Tenants Group in Liverpool supported by the Liverpool Housing Action Trust.
The channel focuses on resident participation issues, giving information and providing debate on local and national issues through the internet.
TPAS - Tenant Auditors
This project involved training tenants to audit their Landlords' services, effectively undertaking an inspection of their services.
The tenants set their own priorities depending on the performance aspects and issues of most importance to them.
Beaver Housing - St. Marys Community Housing
The tenants in the St. Mary's Regeneration Area in Greenwich set up and ran a community website for the former Cardwell Estate and were due to assess its impact on tenant participation, with help from Beaver Housing Society.
The aim of the project was to test whether resident associations can be initiated and function in an on-line environment, encouraging participation from those who will not attend meetings. Unfortunately, this project wasn't quite as successful as originally hoped.
ECSC - Energy Resources for Tenants
The project promotes tenant participation by supporting the groups attending the 'Energy Resources for Tenants' training to advise and engage people locally.
This was done through online support which provided relevant and regularly updated information about energy efficiency, tenant participation, grants availability and case studies drawn up by tenants themselves with support from the Energy Resources for Tenants Project. Unfortunately, this project wasn't quite as successful as originally hoped.
PEP - RSO's in TMO's
The aim of this project was to develop Resident Services Organisations in three TMOs - Bloomsbury EMB in Birmingham, Leathermarket JMB in Southwark, and Lancaster West EMB in Kensington.
The RSOs are community-led bodies which will employ local residents to deliver local services. Jobs targeted are mainly transitional - a stepping stone to employment outside the neighbourhood.
RoFTRA - Tenants Intranet
A tenant intranet link allowing existing and emerging tenant's access to RoFTRA enabling better communication and information flow.
PPCR - TMOnline
There are 100 plus TMOs in the Greater London Area - this is the largest concentration in UK.
PPCR was funded to set up the provisions of long-term support and independent resources to the tenant management movement in London.
Barnsley MPC - Tenants' Jury
This project set up a tenant's jury comprising of those tenants not normally involved in tenant participation.
This jury made recommendations to the council for a way forward for their stock after collecting appropriate evidence.
Bolton MBC - Geographical Information System
This project involved the development of a comprehensive geographical information system for all tenant participation activities and projects within Bolton.
Eastbourne Borough Council - Tenants' Calendar
This project is for a calendar for the Council Tenants.
This is done annually but for 2002 there was a competition inviting tenants and their families to submit their own artwork for inclusion in the calendar which reflected their environment leading to more tenants getting involved.
Derwentside District Council - My Life, My Home
The aim of this project was to involve children and young people more purposefully and imaginatively in tenant participation and action in their own neighbourhoods.
The project also aimed to research and develop a range of initiatives to make tenant participation more meaningful to children and young people and increase their sense of ownership in their local area.
National Consumer Council - A Stronger Voice
A Stronger Voice comes as a complete off-the-shelf training package that can be delivered by local representatives themselves, community leaders or tenant participation officers.
This makes it more accessible, relevant to local issues and cost-effective to deliver, whilst building the confidence and skills of tenants and TP Officers.
