Projects 34 - 43
Barnet Homes - Sheltered Housing IT Project
This project will train up to 60 residents living in sheltered housing, in the use of IT. Residents will be trained in general office packages and internet use.
Two residents will also be trained in PC maintenance and web design, helping residents maintain the equipment and building their own website. It will also establish video conferencing to get tenants involved.
PEP Limited - Personal Development Plan
A Personal Development Plan approach was developed to support individual tenants who wished to become ALMO board members.
A PDP approach is distinctive to a training based approach as its values and techniques are different. The key aspects are that this is client focussed and the facilitation is non-directive.
Haringey Leaseholders Association - Leaseholder Advise
The idea is to organise and manage a professional, effective and reliable advice service for Haringey leaseholders.
Practices and procedures have been developed and an application will be made to the Community Legal Service for Quality Mark Status as local CABs and the Law Centre have not obtained adequate training in the specialised field of Landlord and Tenant Law.
SNU - TMO Manager Starter Pack
This project involved developing a TMO Manager starter pack and associated training.
The pack would contain the necessary guidance required to get TMOs off the ground quickly and efficiently. The packs filled an important gap in the development of TMOs as currently there is no such guidance; these packs will also help speed up this development.
Swaythling/Guildford - Resident Led Training
A residents' group will be established and will work with a project co-ordinator to carry out a training audit to assess training needs and current provision across the area covered by Wessex Involvement Network (WIN).
RoFTRA RBH - Estate Partnering Project
The 'partnering' between the ALMO and the repairs contractors means the conventional way of involving tenants is not appropriate and does not meet requirements - so work needs to be done to establish the new training and support needs of tenants and to develop a new scheme for ALMOs and its agents when dealing with tenants.
It will also develop a scheme that effectively involves people from ethnic minorities, elderly people and other shy and hard to reach groups as well as the usual activities.
Tenant Management Training Services Limited - Resident Participation/Curriculum in Citizenship
The main aim of this project is to promote resident participation through the involvement of residents' groups in the development and delivery of the curriculum for citizenship teaching in schools.
The project will produce customised and generic learning materials on citizenship education and tenant participation and will include a seminar launching an evaluative project report.

TPAS Limited - Interactive Tenant Participation
This CDROM was produced for use by tenant activists, TP Officers, Housing Staff and Supported Housing residents.
The CD is an accessible learning tool to aid the establishment of innovative approaches to involving under represented groups in TP and compliments the CIH TP Toolkit. The CD is interactive and contains text in 4 community languages to aid people with hearing impairments and those whose first language is not English.
London Borough of Barnet - Resident Participation
A video has been produced to be used at a post sign-up visit by a Housing Officer. This will ensure that every new tenant in Barnet will be aware of all the ways they can be involved in the decision making of the delivery of Housing Services in their area.
It will also ensure that every Housing Officer will be pro-active in the delivery of resident involvement.
Riverside Housing Association Community Voice - BME Citizens' Panel
Development of a Black and Minority Ethnic Citizens Panel across Merseyside. Riverside employed a co-ordinator to manage and support further development of the Citizens' Panel.
This has widely proved to be a useful tool for gauging tenant feedback and ensuring regular involvement and higher response rates to questionnaires. The MCV Panel aims to overcome the difficulties individual RSL's face through recruiting members across all tenures.
