Communicating Change

Communication is crucial in the change process. Conflict can arise if your communications do not match up to audience's needs and give the right messages.

You may find these tips on communicating changes very useful in helping your team, your staff and other departments to understand why this project is going ahead and what is needed in order for it to be managed effectively.

Below are some of the difficulties that can arise if communications are not effective:-

Lack of shared vision
Unclear intentions on your part or others
Lack of clarity or understanding
Lack of rapport
Objections have not been properly addressed

Key elements in communicating any changes to staff:

Why - why there is a need for the change?
Who - who will be involved in the change process?
What - what is going to change and what will happen, what will be achieved?
Where - where will the changes occur?
When - when the changes will occur, how long it will take?
How - how will the change happen.
How - how will you communicate this message to everyone involved?
